A commemoration of the 50th anniversary of the Baton Rouge bus boycott will take place June 19-21, 2003, exactly 50 years after the original event. To be held jointly at Southern University and Louisiana State University, the event will inspire a deeper appreciation of the 1953 boycott and its role in the greater civil rights movement, and provide a forum for reflection and community action.
Please join in the special events planned for this important week in June.

The Anniversary Conference, Thursday-Saturday, June 19-21—The anniversary event will provide a forum for dialogue about not only the Baton Rouge bus boycott itself, but also civil rights protest across the South. Academics and specialists in the fields of American civil rights history and social movement theory will join local civil rights pioneers from the 1953 bus boycott.

The conference will feature eminent international and local civil rights scholars, and is open to the public. For more information, call 225-387-6126.
